How did all the ubiquitous profitable surveillance happen and how can we respond to it ?

Join us on 29 August for the first gathering of The Borderless, a techno-political bookclub, AWB’s very own book club, as we explore the thought-provoking ideas in The Age of Surveillance Capitalism by Shoshana Zuboff. This influential book identified the unprecedented socio-economic order, namely surveillance capitalism, and how it endangers our autonomy and democracy.

Together, we’ll discuss how to establish alternative frameworks in discourse, practice, and life with free open source tools and communities. Whether you’re new to these ideas or already passionate about digital rights and open technologies, come along to share perspectives, exchange ideas, and discover practical ways to build a more open, resilient, and community-driven digital future.

Why not Zoom? We’ll be meeting on Jitsi as a perfect example of open source software. Never tried it? Come along and find out what it’s all about.
