Impact Report 2025
2025 has been a year of growth, reflection, and renewed commitment for Activists Without Borders (AWB), set against a global backdrop of profound climate and human rights challenges. Around the world, communities continued to face the escalating impacts of climate breakdown – from extreme heatwaves, floods, and wildfires to the loss of livelihoods and ecosystems – while calls for climate justice grew louder, particularly from frontline and Indigenous communities.
At the same time, conflicts and political repression forced millions more people into displacement, human rights defenders faced increasing threats and criminalisation, and civic space continued to shrink. Yet alongside these challenges were moments of courage and resistance: activists organising across borders, communities demanding accountability, and storytellers using film and art to bear witness and inspire action.
In this context, AWB continued to amplify marginalised voices, foster solidarity across borders, and use storytelling, education, and advocacy as tools for change. This impact report reflects what we achieved together in 2025 – with filmmakers, activists, learners, partners, and supporters – and how these efforts contributed to awareness, dialogue, and action.
Impact Report 2023-2024
In 2023, Activists Without Borders focused on building strong foundations as a non-profit organisation rooted in the United Kingdom, with a vision to grow globally as a grassroots activism movement. Our mission is to inspire every individual to take at least one positive action for the betterment of people and the planet – through peaceful, non-violent means.
During this year, we brought together like-minded individuals from across the world, expanding our public presence while developing a strong and connected network. We launched our film festival as a platform for impactful storytelling, increased awareness through social media campaigns, and began recruiting volunteers to support and grow the organisation.
In 2024, our priorities shifted towards delivering campaigns and creating tangible impact in a world facing intensifying climate and human rights challenges. Communities across the globe continued to experience extreme weather, environmental degradation, and threats to their livelihoods, while calls for urgent and equitable climate action grew stronger.
At the same time, human rights issues remained widespread. Conflict, displacement, and political repression affected millions, and civic space continued to shrink. Yet, this was also a year marked by resilience – activists organising across borders, communities raising their voices, and storytellers using film and art to highlight urgent global issues.
Against this backdrop, AWB strengthened its role as a platform for underrepresented voices. We expanded our work in storytelling, education, and advocacy, while deepening collaboration with partners and supporters.
This report outlines what we built in 2023 and 2024, and how these efforts laid the groundwork for greater awareness, stronger networks, and more coordinated action in the years ahead.
